乔治亚州(乔治亚州)一般指佐治亚州

佐治亚州(Georgia,简称GA),又译乔治亚州,美国东南部7个州之一。北接田纳西州和北卡罗来纳州,南邻佛罗里达州,东北与南卡罗来纳州接壤,东南临大西洋,西毗亚拉巴马州。其面积152488平方公里,人口969万。首府亚特兰大。
佐治亚州的州鸟是棕色长尾鸟。州花是查拉几玫瑰。1996年亚特兰大奥运会在这里举办。

历史沿革

佐治亚州早期为印第安人聚居地, 最初为西班牙人发现。1733年英国移民于此地开垦,是英国最初在北美建立的第13个殖民地,以英王乔治二世的名字命名。
1788年佐治亚批准了联邦宪法,成为第四个加入美利坚合众国的州。
1861年初脱离联邦,成为南方邦联的最初成员之一,是美国内战的主要战场。
1870年重新并入联邦。

佐治亚州有各种矿产资源(粘土、大型花岗岩、大理石、长石、金矿、重晶石、锰矿、铝土矿、漂白土、瓷土、斑脱土、煤矿、蓝晶石、石灰石、云母石)、森林以及淡水资源。佐治亚州森林覆盖面积达到10.36万平方公里,该州在森林和木材的科研领域处于领先水平。   佐州中部瓷土含量丰富,北部匹根斯县是世界上主要的大理石产地之一。

人口民族

佐治亚州人口约为968万,白人占总人口的65.4%, 黑人为30.0%,亚裔约占2.9%。主要城市依次是首府亚特兰大、奥古斯塔-瑞奇蒙德、哥伦布、萨瓦那、雅典城和梅肯等。

政治体制

选举

佐治亚州州长由选举产生,任期四年,可连选连任一次。副州长、州务卿、大法官以及农业、劳工、保险等部门长官均由选举产生。州议会由参、众两院组成。两院议员任期均为2年,可连选连任。佐州有参议员56人,众议员180人、副州长任参议长。美国前总统卡特来自佐州。

州长:内森·迪尔(Nathan Deal)。共和党人。2010年11月当选佐州州长,2011年1月就任。
副州长:凯西·凯格尔(Casey Cagle),共和党人。2006年11月当选佐州副州长,2007年1月就任,2010年连选连任,是佐州历史上第一位共和党副州长。
州务卿:布莱恩·肯普(Brian Kemp),共和党人。2010年1月8日,当选并就任佐州州务卿。
